Sand

I have 3 stories to tell. One is about holding on, the other is about letting go, and another is about...well, you decide. They all have one thing in common.

The simple, common, plebian quality that we call sand.

We, like children on the beach, hold all the sand we can in our two little hands. We scoop as much of it as possible, longing, eager to possess it. As soon as we have gathered our little hoards, little by little it seeps away. We stare at our full hands in stunned silence, watching it diminish from a mountain to a hill to a heap to a pile. Suddenly springing into action, we, like children, not understanding, grasp even tighter, trying to hold on to the sand as tightly as possible. As we do this, the cracks between our fingers suddenly widen, and sand falls away more quickly. Frantically, still not understanding, we continue to tighten our grip as we stare, heartbroken, as the sand falls away from our fingertips onto the ground below. It happens quicker now than a second before, and as we tighten our grip, it falls away gratefully, escaping from the human prison we have enclosed the grains within. As we feel the last of the sand melt away, we, like little children playing on the beach, feel anguished at our loss. But no, no, the parents say. Look all around you, dear child. The sand doesn't belong in your hands. It belongs on the beach. But we don't understand, and we cry and mourn our loss, not comprehending that we never had it in the first place. And as our tears fall thus from our eyes, the parents tell us, no child, don't you see? look around you. The sand is everywhere. For the sand isn't in your hands, but you are in its brown, coarse hands.

The tears roll by, and as they fall the distance from our tightly-shut eyes to the sand below, the saline melts away the soothing camouflage of the sand below. The sifting sands reveal a glimpse of buried treasures, but as we dig further we find that there are none, for it was but an illusion. There we find our salvation, in searching for the treasures that seem tantalisingly close but were always and forever infinitely far. But we do not comprehend, and we will always and forever seek that which we cannot have. The sands shift. What was once uncovered became buried and what was secure has now been compromised. We adjust to the everchanging landscape, hoping to get lucky. Some of us do; most of us don't. The parents chide us, motions to us, telling us not to look for that which we will never find. But we hold the image of those who succeed sacred, and we hammer out bronze and iron and copper plaques with their names etched and engraved forever to spur us on. And as with the theme of sand, we find our salvation elusive.

As we search, we uncover and cover things which we were not covered or uncovered prior to our disturbia. As gentle winds blow, we find the landscape also changes without our interference. Some things surface, others submerge. Some things are exposed to light, others are trapped in darkness. We observe this pheonomena and find fascination in it. Our curiosity overwhelms us and we can no longer be passive observers of this change, but become active, aggressive agents of change. we search for that which are partially revealed, and we eagerly dig them out. The sand does not like this interference; it struggles and resists, it does not give up its treasures easily. Our persistence sometimes triumphs, whilst at other times it fails. And so begins our battle, our tussle with sand; we seek to force it to give up its secrets, but it does not relinquish them freely. Our progress is uncertain, makeshift, shaky. Some days we find we have gained an inch; other days we lose a yard. But we persevere. Then, as it were, the parents bestow upon us a stuptor, and a hurricane blows over all which is obscured by sand. In a flash we find that we have scored an overwhelming victory, and all things have now come to light. Yet as we try to collect these things which are our spoils, we find our victory short-lived. Our hurricane is about to pass, and the sand threatens to obscure all once more. Desperately we try to gather everything we can, and we do.

But we have failed to notice something. As we have done all that we done, we find sand everywhere amongst us. Its grains are, as it were, ingrained within us, and we find that we cannot shake it off. So we are doomed, forever, to be sandmen. In more ways than one.

But did we not hear the parents motioning, begging, screaming for us to stop?

What's the similarity of Ronald Chan and light?

The speed of light is damn imba.
The standard of Ronald Chan is damn imba.

Light behaves both like a wave and a particle.
Ronald Chan owns both in maths and sciences.

Light is bright.
Ronald Chan is bright.

Speed of light is unattainable.
The standard of Ronald Chan is unattainable.

Even if you're travelling at the speed of light, light will still travel at the speed of light.
Even if you're at the standard of Ronald Chan, Ronald Chan will still be at the standard of Ronald Chan.

gehhh,why 71349?

and itachi's gonna DIE cause it's an unwritten rule in mangas/animes that the antagonist HAVE TO DIE.that's why even though itachi sama is ultra pro/bishii/whatever,he'll be killed, somehow.or perhaps he'll allow himself to be killed, just like what sasori did.hmm, anyway,i'm just glad that he'll last for at least two more chapters.yes.good mood till friday~

The Entry

Wah civil war... make art not war! =D
lalala~ this is an entry that shall be entitled "The Entry"

Ok maybe not. maybe yes.

Who knows but this is quite fun
Mind-boggling exploits on the keyboard
An entry to cyberspace, or is it?
Lalala~ random stuff
Like holy ronald, or mature LX
Maybe even Brandon the Thinker
The Thinker by Rodin

One that makes me go on my knees if i'm ever lucky enough to see it.

I don't know if thats suppose to be a compliment.
But Rodin's dead. much like Itachi gonna be, according to pistachio nut.
Entered hell. maybe heaven. maybe an alternate dimension.

We won't know. Unless...
Nope, no unless. We'll never know.
Like how we don't know how many ppl we pissed off in the canteen with our bottles.
b t t t b pff k b t k t b pf

Lets not talk about sch
SPA, TUT, LEC, all 3 letter words
other than PW of course.
But all will end by this week.
Coconuts, Ping Pong and lots of love
Maybe a bit of nuts and fruits in between
The receipe to life
But is life a dish? I prefer it to be a milkshake.
Maybe its just another entry.

I hate ppl who think that philosophy is interesting.
Ppl like brandon kwan who actually bothers to buy philo books and read them.
Ppl like brandon kwan who keeps on borrowing philo books from GL to read.
That's why these ppl are called philophiles.
They're sick-minded.
Unlike me, pure and innocent.

Letter from Cambridge

Dear class,

how are you? how's everything? more importantly, how much do you guys miss me? its okay don't cry. i'll be back within a week's time. hope everything's fine and dandy over there. Enjoy your happy national day holidays over there !

cambridge is really fun and we only wish that u guys had rich parents like ours to send u guys over here too. and um, the grades that we have so that we can come here and slack off while u guys work ur asses off in singapore. the climate here's great. we barely perspire at all. and its pleasantly cool in the mornings while pleasantly warm in the afternoons and pleasantly cold in the evenings (translation: we freeze our asses off every morning n evening and we sweat like pigs in the afternoon). But its great for sports tho. Oh well. Not to mention that the shopping here's great. We came just in time for the summer sales and its winding down already but we managed to get loads and loads of stuff. I got a shirt from topman, fcuk, next, two umbro shorts and one more shirt i think. Lz got another whole bunch of stuff which i can't remember from where. But the stuff here's really good. Like really. The girls love this place cos we get like 2++ hrs of shopping practically everyday and there's plenty of stuff to see. Oh well. Wish you guys were here. =P

but the food here ain't really good tho. Lz has a theory about english cuisine. They take everything and dunk it in oil. So far the only things they haven't dunked in oil is smoked salmon which lz is a sucker for and their dessert, which is damn bloody good. Everything else's really fatty and i think i've put on 3297192 kg since coming over here. Oh and the rooms here are really scary. the first night we came here we were totally freaked. There's like two levels and each person sleeps on one level and they have weird nooks and crannies from which we half-expect to see something staring at us. And the stairs leading up to the second level is really really dangerous and steep and we are quite amazed no one has tripped and fallen and died yet. Or maybe someone has... *spooky laugter* oh well. So on the first night me and lz dragged the bed on the first level onto the second level and so we sleep next to each other since then. Quite amusing really. Oh and coming back to the food, each meal costs generally around 3.5 pounds, so it converts to around 12 spore bucks per meal. which is really expensive. The chinese takeout here was bad too i heard. Some of the humans people tried it and each meal cost 6 to 7 pounds which converts to around 20 bucks and it was nowhere near as good as spore standard. So we kinda realised how good the food is in singapore.

Lessons start at 9 am till 12.30 pm, at which point we chiong to the city centre and grab a sandwich for lunch and start shopping. we then meet up at 2.30 pm for some excursion (for the philo people) and we end at 4.30 pm, at which point we continu shopping till 6 pm. Then from 6 to maybe 7 is dinner, and 7 onwards we play football, frisbee, touch rugby, volleyball, board games, wii, psp, etc. this goes on until maybe 9, when we have our evening briefings. its quite unpredictable; if no one messed up today then we'll be praised like crazy, otherwise we just get scolded and tio curfew then cannot go out after 4.30. Anyway after the briefings we then generally go to do hw or stuff before going to bed. Actually i'm supposed to be doing my readings but lz's soaking up in the bath and i feel tempted to join him but i think we'll get reprimanded for having gay sex in the bath so i guess not. Oh well. He's reading some asterix and obelix book that he bought for his brother. I guess i have to go do my readings too. I'm reading another asterix and obelix book but lz doesn't know because i read when he ain't around. Shhh don't tell him. nah actually i doubt he really minds. XD

so yeah that's all me and lz have been doing so far. I think dom and sex have around the same schedule except that dom doesnt get to go on any excursions and he's really sad, and neither sex nor dom plays football or stuff. But they're having loads of fun too and they're shopping happily. We all have made loads of friends on this trip, and i think it was worth it. I thank god for giving me my rich-ass parents so that they could send me on this trip and make u guys go green with envy cos u guys can't be here with me. XD

i hit you. oppposite.

K that's it guys. Oh crap lz's back. He's looking from behind my shoulder now. Gotta go. CYA !!

For the sake of our beloved CT rep (and my PW grp mate),

I shall make a post... on why we should give yihui a coconut for her present! =D

1. Coconut drinks cost a nice 2 dollars at ubin where we had our class camp.
2. Coconut has 3 syllables just like Chen Yihui.
3. To satisfy her inner obession with coconuts.
4. Coconuts are nice and round. As RI D&T teacher once said, curves are beautiful.
5. Coconut starts with "C". Chen Yihui starts with "C".
6. Coconut is a really interesting present that will remain etched in yihui's mind for a long time.
7. Last of all, Love makes the world go round. A coconut is round and to show our love, we give her a coconut!

hm, too lazy to think of more. back to work.

PS: We should draw a really scary A on the coconut. GP students should know why.

Celebrating 100th post!!!! Yeah!
We "rock" and have "a lot" of class spirit.
Don't you guys think so?
Hahaha.

Anyway, our dear class rep chen yihui will be celebrating her bday 3 days later.
Anyone is interested in doing something about it?
An outing?
or at least a present?

Someone give suggestion pls.....

National Day is coming. But hey since Ronald posted stories I must well follow suit.

1) This story is from someone else.

A man checked into a hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an e-mail to his wife. However, he accidentally typed a wrong e-mail address, and without realizing his error, he sent the e-mail. Meanwhile, somewhere else, a widow had just returned from her husband's funeral. The widow decided to check her e-mail, expecting condolence messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she fainted. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To:
My Loving Wife

Subject: I've Reached

Date: 16 May 2004

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here, and we are allowed to send e-mails to loved ones. I've just reached and have been checked in.I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow.Looking forward to seeing you TOMORROW!

Your loving
Hubby

2) Another short story.

host: hey guys, let me talk to you about jokes!
audience: *LOL**LOL*
host: what? i haven't talked about jokes yet! why were you all laughing?!
audience: you said joke mah, expect us to laugh, so we laugh!

3) Seen this before. Credits to the person who thought of it.

Made in Japan

A Japanese man was in a hurry to go to the KLIA airport, so he took a Proton taxi. The taxi driver took his sweet time driving within the speed limit but the Jap was getting impatient. The following is their conversation on the way to the airport.

A Toyota Camry overtook the taxi.

Japanese: Look ...Toyota!! ...very fast!!!.... made in Japan! Proton...no good.... made in Malaysia .
Driver: yah.

After a few minutes a Nissan overtook the taxi.

Japanese: look.... look.... Nissan!!!..... very good!! very fast! made in Japan! Proton.... no good.... made in Malaysia
Driver: yah yah.

After a few minutes a Honda overtook the taxi.

Japanese: look... look.... look... Honda!!.... very GOOD!!....very fast!!....made in Japan! Proton...no good...made in Malaysia
Driver: yah yah yah.

Arriving at the airport, the Japanese is about to pay the taxi driver.

Japanese: How much?
Driver: RM150/-
Japanese: Oh... very expensive, you overcharge!
Driver: No .... look .... look .... Sony meter!!....very good!!.... very fast!.... Made in Japan!
